Luggage
Luggage Restrictions
Amount of Luggage
The total allowed luggage weight per person is 30 kg. It is advisable to keep this weight limit in mind when packing at home. The best types of bags are simple sports bags and backpacks.
Sharp Objects
Sharp objects that could harm other passengers or the pilot are not allowed in the helicopter cabin. Please pack knives, scissors, and other sharp items in the luggage that will be placed in the helicopter’s cargo hold.
Firearms
Hunting and sporting firearms and their ammunition can be transported in the helicopter, provided that the company is notified about it when booking the flight. If you are carrying firearms or ammunition, please inform the helicopter’s pilot at the time of check-in as well. Firearms must be unloaded, and will primarily be placed in the helicopter’s cargo hold. Ammunition for personal use must be securely packed, with the total weight not exceeding five (5) kilograms per person. The package will be placed in the helicopter’s cargo hold.
Liquids
A passenger is allowed to carry fuel for a camping stove in their luggage, with a maximum of one (1) liter. The fuel must be in its original, sealed container, and the closure must be tightened and secured to prevent any leakage. The liquid must be placed in a strong plastic bag, which must be sealed tightly. The package will be placed in the helicopter’s external cargo hold in an upright position.
Additionally, a passenger may transport gasoline for their own use in containers that are specifically designed for this purpose and are approved for general sale, with a maximum capacity of twenty (20) liters per container. The total amount of gasoline allowed to be transported in the helicopter is up to sixty (60) liters. The closure of the containers must be secured with a safety wire or other means to prevent leakage. The containers will be placed in the helicopter’s cargo hold in an upright position.
Liquefied petroleum gas (propane) is prohibited, except under the conditions outlined below.
Special Permit for Entrepreneurs
A person who conducts business in the Lapland region may, for business purposes, send propane as cargo. The propane must be in containers that are designed for the transportation and storage of liquefied gas and approved for general sale, with a capacity of two, five, or eleven kilograms (net weight), and equipped with reliable closures. The total amount of propane carried in the helicopter cannot exceed 22 kg (net weight). The containers must be placed in the helicopter’s cargo hold in an upright position. No one other than the owners of the propane containers is allowed to be on board, aside from the pilot.

Weather Conditions
Weather Conditions and Volcanic Ash Impact on Flight Operations
Weather Reservation
Nature does not always allow for the execution of pre-planned schedules. Weather conditions or volcanic ash may occasionally prevent the safe execution of flights. In such cases, we must temporarily suspend flight operations until the weather improves and safe flight operations can resume.
In fell areas, weather conditions can change rapidly, and local weather variations can be significant. This is especially true during unstable weather conditions. Both the weather at the departure point and the destination must meet the criteria for safe operations. Please keep this in mind if the scheduled pick-up time is not met and the waiting time in the field is extended.
Please note the following when weather conditions or volcanic ash affect flight operations:
- Flights may become congested. We will operate all scheduled flights in the original order.
- Wait at the designated pick-up location.
- We do not operate flights at night – please plan for possible additional overnight stays in the field and protection from weather conditions.
- Consider weather reservation when planning onward transportation.
- Heliflite Oy is not responsible for delays caused by the aforementioned weather conditions.
Volcanic Ash
The Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi) or the corresponding authorities in Sweden or Norway may restrict all motorized aircraft flights in the Kilpisjärvi operating area due to volcanic ash in the atmosphere.
